Each one has a very distinct identity, and the best choice mostly depends on the kind of trip you want.

• Mahé: the largest and most populated island in Seychelles. It’s home to the capital, the international airport, beautiful white-sand beaches, mountainous landscapes and lush tropical forests. It’s a very complete island, ideal for a first trip.
• Praslin: wilder and more peaceful, famous for its preserved nature. It is home to the country’s most famous nature reserve, Vallée de Mai, and some of the most beautiful beaches in Seychelles, such as Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette.
• La Digue: the most authentic of the three. Here, there are no cars: you get around by bike or by ox cart. The atmosphere is incredibly exotic and perfect for disconnecting. La Digue is also home to the most iconic beach in Seychelles, the famous Anse Source d’Argent.

But ideally, whether you’re staying 1 week, 10 days, 2 weeks or more, the best option is to combine Mahé, Praslin and La Digue to experience the full diversity of Seychelles.

Mahé is the main island of Seychelles, the one you’ll land on and where the capital is located. It is also the economic and administrative center of the country.

You simply can’t visit Seychelles without spending a few days on Praslin, the second-largest island in the archipelago!

You’ll quickly fall in love with its almost untouched nature, especially in the magnificent Vallée de Mai, a nearly unique primary forest listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

And of course, as everywhere in Seychelles, the beaches are stunning: Anse Lazio, Anse Georgette, Côte d’Or…

Not to mention the incredible snorkeling spots around the small islands bordering Praslin, such as Saint Pierre and Curieuse, which you absolutely should discover on a boat trip.

Where to Stay in La Digue, Seychelles?

The third must-see island in Seychelles: La Digue!

It’s the third most populated island in the archipelago, but also the most preserved of the three. Here, there are almost no roads and no cars: you get around by bike or ox cart, in a very old-fashioned rhythm.

La Digue is a true timeless escape, the island of disconnecting, where you slow down and explore by pedaling.

It’s an island you really should see for at least one day during your trip to Seychelles. And if you can spend 2 to 3 days there, even better, because there are plenty of things to see and do in La Digue, including:

• visiting L’Union Estate Park
• the wild beaches of Grand Anse and Petite Anse
• the legendary excursion to Anse Marron, with a local guide strongly recommended, which you can book easily here
• the full-day boat trip to Sister, Félicité and Coco islands
• the hike to Nid d’Aigle, the highest point of the island, 333 m high, about 2 hours round trip
• and of course the famous Anse Source d’Argent Beach, an absolute must-see, often considered the most beautiful beach in the world!

Accommodation options are more limited than on Mahé or Praslin. You’ll mostly find guesthouses and small charming hotels, plus one large resort, Le Domaine de l’Orangeraie – 4 stars.

Where to Stay in Seychelles: Exclusive Experiences on Private Islands

If you dream of an even more private and extraordinary stay, Seychelles has several private islands where the experience takes on a whole new dimension.

On these islands, there are no crowds, no roads, and very few places to stay. You come here mainly to disconnect, enjoy wild landscapes and live a truly unique moment.

Where to Stay on Silhouette Island

Silhouette is a small wild island located northwest of Mahé. Sparsely populated, with around 200 inhabitants, it has kept a very natural feel, between tropical forests, mountains and deserted beaches.

Here, there are no cars: you get around on foot, by bike or by electric buggy provided by the accommodations.

It’s the ideal destination to celebrate a special occasion or enjoy a truly exclusive experience. If you’re looking for where to spend your honeymoon in Seychelles, Silhouette is a perfect choice!

How to get to Silhouette from Mahé?

• By boat, around 45 minutes
• By helicopter, around 15 minutes

In both cases, the transfer is booked directly through your accommodation on Silhouette.

What to do on Silhouette Island?

• Walk around the village of La Passe, with Creole houses, church, harbor and the Dauban family mausoleum
• Visit the Tortoise Sanctuary
• Hike up Mont Dauban, the highest point on the island at 740 m, a sporty hike of around 5 hours round trip
• Discover the beaches of Anse Mondon, Anse Patate and Anse Lascars
• Hike the Grande Barbe trail, about 4 hours round trip, which must absolutely be done with a local guide as the trail is not well marked.

Where to stay on Silhouette?

The choice is simple: there are only 2 accommodations on the island:

Where to Stay in Seychelles? Staying on Félicité Island

Félicité is a private island located east of La Digue, known for its granite landscape and exceptional underwater world. The island is home to a forest reserve and beautiful beaches.

People stay here mostly for the absolute peace and the beauty of the landscapes.

There is only one accommodation option on the island: Six Senses Zil Pasyon.

Located about 90 km north of Mahé, Denis Island is a small private island accessible by a 30-minute flight.

Book early, especially in high season

Seychelles is a very popular destination, especially between May and October and during school holidays. The best accommodations sell out quickly, especially on La Digue and the private islands, where the offer is limited.

My advice: if your dates are fixed, it’s best to book several months in advance.

Choose the right island depending on the length of your stay

If you’re staying less than a week, focus on just one island, such as Mahé or Praslin. From 7-8 days, the ideal route is to combine Mahé + Praslin + La Digue to enjoy different atmospheres without rushing. Too many islands on a short trip can quickly become tiring.
