1 Week in Seychelles: The Perfect 7-8 Day Itinerary
Planning a 7-day trip to the Seychelles?
Lucky you! 😉
If you’re looking for the perfect one-week itinerary in Seychelles, you’re in the right place. In this guide, I’m sharing my favourite itinerary to explore the Seychelles in 7 days.
This optimised route will help you discover some of the most beautiful spots across the archipelago in just one week in the Seychelles.
You’ll get to spend time on Mahé, the main island, but also hop over to nearby islands — each one more paradise-like than the last.
To keep things well balanced, I’ve mixed in relaxing beach time, nature walks, boat trips, and a few cultural visits along the way.
I’ll also be sharing my accommodation recommendations as we go, to make planning your trip even easier.
So… ready to plan your 7-day Seychelles itinerary?
Let’s go!
7-day Seychelles itinerary – Step 1: 3 days on Mahé
Mahé is where your 7-day Seychelles itinerary begins, since this is where the international airport is located. I recommend starting your trip here before heading off to the smaller surrounding islands.
Day 1 – Victoria & Beau Vallon Beach
After checking in at your hotel, head straight to Victoria, the capital of the Seychelles. It’s a very small, easy-to-walk city, perfect for a relaxed first introduction to island life.
Here’s a walking route I recommend so you don’t miss anything (about 1.5 to 2 hours total):
Start right in the city centre at the Clock Tower, a miniature replica of London’s Big Ben and one of Victoria’s main landmarks.
Just a couple of minutes away, stop by the Cathedral of St. Paul, the oldest Anglican church in the Seychelles.
Continue along Avenue de la Révolution, a lively street with local restaurants and snack spots if you feel like grabbing something to eat.
A short walk up the road brings you to the Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market, a colourful and fragrant local market that’s especially worth visiting on Saturday mornings for an authentic local vibe.
From there, it’s only about 5 minutes on foot to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the largest Catholic church in the country, known for its elegant white façade.
Finish your loop with a more unexpected stop at the Arul Mihu Navasakthi Vinayagar Temple, a vibrant Hindu temple filled with intricate sculptures and striking colours.
If you still have energy left, walk about 15 minutes to the Seychelles National Botanical Gardens, a peaceful green escape where you can discover native plant species — and even spot giant tortoises.
🔎 Mini walking guide: Victoria highlights (1.5–2h)
📍 Start: Clock Tower (city centre), iconic Big Ben-style landmark
⛪ → Cathedral of St. Paul (2 min walk): oldest Anglican church in the Seychelles
🍴 → Avenue de la Révolution: local food spots & restaurants
🧺 → Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market (3 min): best in the morning, especially Saturdays
🕊️ → Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (5 min): largest Catholic church in the country
🛕 → Arul Mihu Navasakthi Vinayagar Temple (7 min): colourful Hindu temple
🌴 → Botanical Gardens (optional – 15 min walk)
In the late afternoon, head to Beau Vallon Beach, one of the most beautiful and popular beaches on Mahé, located about 15 minutes by car from Victoria.
You can also extend your day with a trip to Anse Major, a more secluded and wild beach further east. It’s a real gem, but requires a bit of effort to reach: you’ll need to take the hiking trail starting from Bel Ombre, about 3 km from Beau Vallon. A parking area is available to leave your car. Expect around 45 minutes of walking to reach Anse Major — but the scenery is absolutely worth it.

Day 2 – Hiking in Morne Seychellois National Park
On your second day, continue exploring Mahé and the Seychelles with a nature escape into the stunning Morne Seychellois National Park.
This is the largest protected area in the country, and it’s also home to the highest peak in the Seychelles : the Morne Seychellois (905 m).
The Sans Soucis Road, which crosses the park, already offers breathtaking views on its own. You can easily drive along it and stop at several viewpoints for unforgettable photo stops.
But if you really want to experience this place properly during your one-week Seychelles itinerary, hiking is the way to go.
Here are the best trails in the park:
- Morne Seychellois Summit Trail:
For experienced hikers, this is the ultimate challenge of your trip.
Expect around 5 hours round trip, with a fairly steep climb.Start early (around 7:30–8:00 am) to avoid the heat and enjoy clearer views at the top. From the summit, the panorama over Victoria, Sainte Anne Bay, and the surrounding islands is absolutely incredible.
- Morne Blanc Trail:
A much easier but still very rewarding alternative.
In about 1.5 to 2 hours round trip, you reach a stunning viewpoint at 667 meters above sea level.Perfect if you want great scenery without a long or difficult hike.
- Trois Frères Trail:
Ideal for families or a relaxed walk.
This 1.5-hour round trip trail offers beautiful views over Praslin, La Digue, the Sainte Anne Marine Park, and Victoria.
-
Copolia Trail:
One of my personal favourites!
This hike takes you through lush palm forest before opening up onto a granite plateau with a 360° panoramic view over Mahé and the Indian Ocean.
Allow around 2 hours round trip. It’s also the only paid trail in the park (about €8 per person).
My Tip
You can absolutely hike independently, but I highly recommend hiring a local guide. They’ll help you understand the endemic flora, spot local birdlife, and ensure you hike safely and confidently — especially on the more challenging trails.
Day 3 – Snorkelling in Sainte Anne Marine Park
For the third day of your one-week Seychelles itinerary, it’s time to get in the water!
Head to the Sainte Anne Marine National Park, just off the northeast coast of Mahé, to discover the incredible underwater world of the Seychelles.
This little slice of paradise, located only a few kilometres from Victoria, is actually the oldest marine reserve in the country.
It’s made up of six small islands: Sainte Anne (the largest), Round Island, Long Island, Moyenne Island, Cachée Island, and Cerf Island (the only inhabited one).
Here, the water is warm, crystal clear, and full of life. It’s an absolute dream for snorkelling and freediving — think colourful coral reefs, butterflyfish, sea turtles, stingrays… every swim feels like an aquarium come to life.
There are several half-day and full-day boat trips available from Mahé. Most include snorkelling stops at the best spots in the park, as well as island visits — especially Moyenne Island, famous for its giant tortoises and coastal walking trails, and Cerf Island, known for its laid-back beaches.
I highly recommend this full-day Sainte Anne Marine Park cruise, which takes you out on a glass-bottom boat to explore the reserve. The experience usually includes:
- several snorkelling stops in the most beautiful parts of the marine park
- a guided visit to Moyenne Island, including giant tortoise encounters
- a stop at Cerf Island, with a beachside barbecue lunch
It’s one of the most popular excursions in the Seychelles, so my advice is simple: book it in advance if you can. You can do that via the link below:
After this amazing day, spend your last night on Mahé, because the next day it’s time to head to Praslin!
My Tip
Try to do your Sainte Anne Marine Park excursion in the morning, when the sea is calm and underwater visibility is at its best. And don’t forget to bring biodegradable sunscreen to help protect the marine ecosystem.

Where to stay on Mahé Island?
Choosing where to stay in Mahé really depends on the vibe you’re looking for during your Seychelles one-week itinerary. The island is large, and each area has its own atmosphere.
To help you decide quickly, here are the 3 best areas to stay, along with my recommended accommodations (tested and approved).
Best areas to stay in Mahé
- Victoria & surroundings:
This is the most convenient area for exploring the island and organising excursions. You’ll find the widest range of accommodation options here, for all budgets and styles. It’s also close to some of Mahé’s most beautiful beaches, making it a great base overall.
- West Coast:
Quieter and more family-friendly, this area is perfect if you’re looking for peace and relaxation. It’s also ideal for hiking lovers, as it sits right next to Morne Seychellois National Park.
- South of Mahé:
This is the most authentic and untouched part of the island. Less touristy, more local, and with a very peaceful atmosphere.
My recommended places to stay in Mahé
Cap Sud Self-Catering – South Mahé
A beautiful holiday home in the south of the island, near Turtle Bay.
- Mountain views and private terrace
- Fully equipped kitchen
- Lovely hosts and warm welcome
- Perfect for a self-catering stay
👉 Ideal if you’re looking for peace and a more local experience.
From around €110 per night (2–6 people)
⚠️ There are very few similar options in this area, so it books up quickly. I recommend reserving as soon as you have your dates.
Creole Pearl – Apartment in Victoria
A modern apartment with ocean views, ideally located in Victoria.
- Close to the port, restaurants, and shops

One week in Seychelles: Step 2 – 2 days on Praslin
After spending 3 days on Mahé, it’s time to head to Praslin, the second-largest island in the Seychelles.
Whether you’re planning a 1-week or 10-day Seychelles itinerary, this island is absolutely unmissable.
I recommend spending 2 full days on Praslin to really enjoy its atmosphere.
Praslin is even more wild and lush than Mahé — a true green paradise surrounded by turquoise waters.
To get there, you can choose between a 15-minute domestic flight or a 45-minute ferry ride from Mahé.
Day 4 – Vallée de Mai
Reach Praslin either by plane or ferry early in the day, then head straight to the Vallée de Mai, the island’s must-see natural highlight.
This vast tropical forest, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the few places on Earth that has remained almost untouched since prehistoric times.
As you walk along the marked trails (allow around 1.5 to 2 hours), you’ll discover an extraordinary ecosystem — including the famous “coco de mer”, the emblem of the Seychelles, which produces the largest seed in the world.
My Tip
You can visit the Vallée de Mai on your own… but honestly, you’ll miss out on a big part of the experience.
I strongly recommend doing the visit with a local guide:
They explain the fascinating history of the forest
They point out details you would never notice on your own
They help you spot hidden wildlife in the dense vegetation
➡️ Book your guided Vallée de Mai tour here
With a bit of luck (and even more so with a guide), you might also spot during your visit:
- the Seychelles black parrot, a rare and iconic species
- the Seychelles blue pigeon
- other endemic birds and wildlife hidden in the forest
⚠️ Without a guide, most visitors walk through without realising what they’re actually seeing.

In the late afternoon, head to Anse Lazio, located about 30 minutes by car from the Vallée de Mai.
This beach is often ranked among the most beautiful in the world — and it’s easy to see why: white sand, turquoise water, and a truly postcard-perfect setting. On site, you’ll find two restaurants, a laid-back bar, and a small souvenir shop.
The best time to visit Anse Lazio is late in the day, when you can enjoy a spectacular sunset over the ocean.
My Tip
For confident hikers, there’s also a trail starting from Anse Lazio that leads to Anse Georgette, another stunning and more secluded beach that feels just as magical — if not even more untouched.

Day 5 – Excursion to Curieuse Island & Saint Pierre
If there’s one boat trip you should do during your one-week Seychelles itinerary, it’s definitely the cruise to Curieuse and Saint Pierre islands.
It’s one of the absolute must-do excursions in the Seychelles.
Between giant tortoises roaming freely on Curieuse Island, pristine beaches, and some of the best snorkelling spots around Saint Pierre, this day often becomes one of the most unforgettable memories of the entire trip.
Why I recommend this excursion:
- Get up close to giant tortoises in their natural environment
- Discover completely unspoilt island landscapes
- Enjoy some of the best snorkelling spots in the Seychelles
- All in one easy, well-organised day trip
👉 It’s the perfect excursion if you want that “postcard-perfect Seychelles experience” without any hassle.
What the day looks like:
Here’s how the excursion usually unfolds:
- Morning departure by boat from Grand Anse Beach (Praslin)
- Snorkelling session around Saint Pierre Islet (incredible turquoise waters)
- Arrival on Curieuse Island with a beach BBQ lunch
- Island visit: old colonial house + mangrove walk
- Relaxation and swimming time
- Return to Praslin in the late afternoon
The water in this area is especially clear and full of marine life. If you enjoy snorkelling, this is an experience you really don’t want to miss.
My Tip
This excursion is very popular, especially during peak season.
Places sell out quickly and boats are often fully booked several days in advance.
👉 I strongly recommend booking ahead to avoid any disappointment:
Who is this excursion for?
- Couples on a honeymoon
- First-time visitors to the Seychelles
- Snorkelling lovers
- Travellers who want a full discovery day without any hassle
👉 If you’re hesitating between several activities on Praslin, honestly: choose this one.
It’s exactly the kind of day you’ll still be talking about long after you’re back home from the Seychelles.

My Tip
If you’re spending a full 8 days in the Seychelles, consider adding an extra day on Praslin to explore Baie Sainte Anne and Côte d’Or Beach.

Here are my top accommodation recommendations depending on your budget and travel style:

Step 3: 2 days on La Digue
To complete your 7-day Seychelles itinerary, I highly recommend spending 2 days on La Digue.
It’s one of the three main islands of the archipelago, though much smaller and even more laid-back than Praslin.
Here, it genuinely feels like time has slowed down: almost no cars, people getting around by bike, and a peaceful atmosphere completely disconnected from modern life. The charm starts the moment you arrive.
La Digue is also home to one of the most famous beaches in the world: Anse Source d’Argent — an absolute must-see during any trip to the Seychelles.
Day 6 – Exploring La Digue by bike
The best way to discover La Digue is definitely by bicycle — and honestly, it’s one of the highlights of the trip.
As soon as you arrive on the island (around 15 minutes by ferry from Praslin), rent a bike near the harbour. It’s quick and easy. Most hotels and guesthouses also offer bike rentals directly on-site.
Start by exploring the west coast, where you’ll find peaceful and less crowded beaches such as Anse Réunion and Anse Severe, perfect for a swim break or a picnic under the casuarina trees.
Towards the end of the morning, cycle south to the entrance of L’Union Estate (paid entrance, around €8). Inside, you’ll pass through vanilla plantations, an old colonial house, and giant tortoise enclosures.
And then comes the highlight of the day: Anse Source d’Argent, the island’s absolute superstar.
Crystal-clear water, powdery white sand, dramatic granite boulders… the scenery is simply breathtaking. It’s almost guaranteed to become one of your biggest highlights during your one-week Seychelles trip.
My Tip
Try to visit Anse Source d’Argent in the late afternoon, when the light becomes softer and the beach gets a little quieter.
Then head back to your accommodation and rest up before the hike planned for the next day.

My Tip
If you only have one day to visit La Digue, it’s still completely possible to do it as a day trip from Mahé.
I recommend this organised excursion, which includes the round-trip ferry tickets as well as bike rental so you can explore the island freely at your own pace.
Departure is usually around 8 am, with return in the late afternoon (around 4 pm).
Book your spot now by clicking below 👇
Day 7 – Hiking to Nid d’Aigle
For the final day of your 7–8 day Seychelles itinerary, I suggest ending the trip with one last unforgettable adventure: a hike to Nid d’Aigle, the highest point on La Digue.
If you enjoy scenic viewpoints and nature walks, you’re going to love this one.
The trail starts in the centre of the island, near Belle Vue, and climbs through dense tropical vegetation. Some sections are a bit steep, but nothing too difficult if you’re reasonably fit.
Allow around 1.5 to 2 hours round trip, depending on your pace.
At the top, 333 metres above sea level, the reward is absolutely worth it: breathtaking panoramic views over La Digue, Praslin, Félicité Island, and several smaller neighbouring islands.
On your way back down, stop at the Belle Vue Restaurant, perched on the hillside, for a drink with an ocean view or a delicious local meal overlooking the islands.
My Tip
Start early in the morning to enjoy cooler temperatures and clearer views.
Make sure to bring plenty of water, a cap or hat, comfortable walking shoes, and of course, your camera!
My Tip

How to get around the Seychelles?
Planning your transportation properly is the key to making the most of your one-week Seychelles itinerary.
Here are my best tips for getting around easily between the islands — and on each island itself.
- Getting around Mahé:
I highly recommend renting a car on Mahé.
It’s the largest island in the Seychelles, and having your own vehicle gives you complete freedom to explore without depending on schedules or organised tours.
Driving is on the left-hand side (a British colonial legacy), but roads are generally in good condition and easy to navigate.
If you’d rather not drive, local taxis are also available. Just make sure to agree on the fare beforehand, as taxis don’t always use meters.
- Getting around Praslin:
I also recommend renting a car on Praslin, especially if you want to explore the island at your own pace.
Distances are shorter than on Mahé, but some beaches and natural sites are not very well connected by public transport.
My Tip
On both Mahé and Praslin, the public bus network is a cheap and authentic alternative. It covers the main roads quite well, but schedules can sometimes be irregular — especially on weekends.
It’s a good option if you have extra time and want to experience the islands a bit more like a local.
- Getting around La Digue:
On La Digue, bikes rule the island!
Cycling is by far the main and most enjoyable way to get around this peaceful little island.
There are also a few taxis and electric buggies available if needed.
- Transportation on the smaller Seychelles islands:
Outside of the three main islands, most smaller islands have no real road network.
People usually get around on foot or by bike.
Many resorts also provide small electric carts or shuttle buggies to transport guests around the property.
How to travel between the Seychelles islands?
By ferry
During your 7 days in the Seychelles, you’ll most likely travel between the three main islands: Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue.
Fast and modern ferries operate daily between them.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Mahé ↔ Praslin: around 1 hour crossing time, from approximately €60 per person
- Praslin ↔ La Digue: only 15 minutes, from around €20
- Mahé ↔ La Digue: some direct ferries exist (around 1h30, from €75), but most routes require a connection in Praslin
Don’t worry — transfers are generally very well organised and port staff are there to help if needed.
My Tip
It’s best to book your ferry tickets in advance, especially during high season.
You can easily purchase tickets online through companies such as Cat Cocos.
By plane
You can also fly from Mahé to Praslin.
Several daily flights are operated by Air Seychelles, and the journey takes around 15 to 20 minutes aboard small twin-propeller aircraft.
The main advantages?
- It’s faster than the ferry
- The aerial views over the Seychelles islands are absolutely stunning throughout the flight
Ticket prices vary depending on the fare type (fixed or flexible), but expect to pay around €120 to €150 one way.
