10 days in Seychelles: The Perfect 9-10 Day Itinerary (First Time Visit)

10 Day Seychelles Itinerary

Are you about to spend 10 days in the Seychelles?

This guide is exactly what you need!

I’ve put together an optimised 10-day Seychelles itinerary to help you make the most of your trip.

This 10-day route lets you combine the three main islands — Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue — while also including excursions to nearby smaller islands.

Expect a mix of everything: jungle walks, snorkelling in crystal-clear lagoons, boat trips, and long relaxing days on some of the most beautiful beaches in the Seychelles.

To save you time, I’ve also included my favourite accommodation picks at each stage of the journey.

So, what should you see and do in the Seychelles in 10 days?

Here’s the itinerary to follow!

10-day Seychelles itinerary – Step 1: Mahé (2 days)

You’ll arrive in Mahé at Victoria International Airport. Mahé is the largest island in the archipelago, home to most of the population, and also the economic and administrative centre of the Seychelles.

Since you’re landing here anyway, I recommend spending your first 2 days on Mahé (and you’ll come back again at the end of your trip for another 2 days).

Day 1 – Victoria & Beau Vallon Beach

For your first day of this 10-day Seychelles itinerary, we’ll take it slow — perfect to recover from your journey and ease into the island vibe. Let’s start with a walk through Victoria, the smallest capital city in the world.

It’s very easy to explore on foot.

Here’s a simple 1.5-hour walking route to see the main highlights of the city in 5 steps:

1 – Start at the Clock Tower, a small replica of Big Ben located in the heart of Victoria. Just nearby, you can also visit the Cathedral of St. Paul, the oldest Anglican church in the Seychelles.

2 – Continue along Avenue de la Révolution, a lively street with small restaurants and snack shops. A few minutes away, don’t miss the Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market, full of colours and tropical scents (especially vibrant on Saturday mornings).

3 – About 5 minutes on foot, you’ll find the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the largest Catholic church in the country. A few streets away stands the Arul Mihu Navasakthi Vinayagar Temple, known for its bright colours and detailed sculptures.

4 – If you still have some energy, finish your walk at the Seychelles National Botanical Gardens, about 15 minutes away on foot.

5 – End your first day at Beau Vallon Beach, just 15 minutes from Victoria. It’s one of the most beautiful beaches in the Seychelles, perfect for a swim and a sunset.

Afterwards, head back to your accommodation for your first night on Mahé (I share my best places to stay further down in this guide).

tour de l'horloge à Victoria, Mahé, Seychelles
The Clock Tower, iconic landmark of Victoria, the capital of the Seychelles.

My Tip

If you still have energy at the end of the day, I also highly recommend visiting the stunning Anse Major Beach.

It can be reached on foot from Bel Ombre, about 3 km from Beau Vallon. Park your car, follow the marked hiking trail, and walk around 45 minutes to reach the beach.

You can also do a more in-depth guided hike to Anse Major (around 5 hours) with a local guide.

It’s a fantastic off-the-beaten-path experience, and it’s best to book in advance:

Day 2 – Snorkeling in Sainte Anne Marine National Park

The next day, get your swimsuit, mask, and snorkel ready — it’s time to explore the underwater world of the Seychelles!

Just a few kilometres off the coast of Victoria lies the Sainte Anne Marine National Park, the oldest marine reserve in the Seychelles.

The park is made up of 6 small islands: Sainte Anne, Round Island, Cerf Island, Long Island, Moyenne Island, and Cachée Island (the only one that is inhabited).

The waters here are crystal-clear and full of tropical marine life. You’ll find colourful coral reefs, schools of tropical fish, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot sea turtles or rays — it’s truly unforgettable.

The best way to experience this paradise is by booking a half-day or full-day boat excursion from Mahé.

I personally had the chance to join the catamaran cruise in Sainte Anne Marine Park, and I highly recommend it — it was one of my best days in the Seychelles!

You’ll set off around 10am for a full day at sea, including:

  • a scenic cruise around the stunning islands of the marine park
  • several snorkelling stops at the best underwater spots
  • a traditional Creole lunch served on board
  • a stop on Moyenne Island to meet the famous giant tortoises

This excursion is extremely popular, so I strongly recommend booking it as early as possible.

If the catamaran cruise isn’t for you, here are two other great ways to explore the marine park:

  • Glass-bottom boat tour – a unique 1h30 experience on a fully transparent boat. Book your tour here
  • Semi-submarine tour of Sainte Anne Marine Park – an original way to discover marine life without getting wet. Click here to book

My Tip

To help protect this fragile ecosystem, make sure to use reef-safe sunscreen.

After this amazing day at sea, enjoy a relaxing final evening on Mahé before heading to Praslin the next day!

Where to stay in Mahé?

Mahé is the largest island in the Seychelles, and it offers a wide range of accommodation options.

Choosing where to stay in Mahé really depends on the atmosphere you’re looking for during your 10-day Seychelles trip, as each area has its own unique charm:

  • Victoria & surroundings

This is the most convenient area to stay if you want to explore the island easily and organise excursions without hassle. You’ll find a wide variety of accommodation options here, suitable for all budgets and travel styles. Bonus: some of Mahé’s most beautiful beaches are just a short drive away.

  • West Coast of Mahé

Quieter and more family-friendly, this area is perfect if you’re looking for peace and relaxation. It’s also a great base for hiking enthusiasts, as the Morne Seychellois National Park is right nearby.

  • South of Mahé

More wild and authentic, this is the least touristy part of the island. It’s ideal for travellers seeking tranquillity, untouched landscapes, and a more local experience.

Here ar my 3 favourite places to stay in Mahé (for all budgets):

Cap Sud Self-Catering – South Mahé

A charming holiday home just a short walk from Turtle Bay Beach in the south of the island.

Mountain views, beautiful decor, terrace, living area, fully equipped kitchen… everything you need for a comfortable stay. Impeccably clean with very welcoming hosts. Perfect for couples or families looking for independence.

Around €110 per night for 2 to 6 guests

Creole Pearl – Victoria

A modern apartment with stunning sea views right in the heart of Victoria. Large balcony, cosy living room, equipped kitchen, barbecue… ideal if you want to stay close to the harbour, restaurants, and shops.

From €169 per night for 2 guests (up to 6 people)

Constance Ephelia – West Coast

A stunning 5-star resort surrounded by lush nature, facing the Indian Ocean. Villas and suites with private gardens, multiple pools, 5 restaurants, 6 bars, and a spa.

A truly dreamlike setting! The Morne Seychellois National Park is just 5 minutes away.

Around €550 per night for a double room

Seychelles 10-day itinerary: Step 2 – Praslin (3 days)

After your first two days on Mahé, it’s time to discover another side of the Seychelles: head to Praslin, the second-largest island in the archipelago.

Quieter and more untouched than Mahé, Praslin is home to breathtaking beaches and lush tropical nature.

You can easily reach it by ferry (around 1 hour from Mahé) or by plane (a 15-minute flight).

Day 3 – Vallée de Mai

Leave Mahé early in the morning to reach Praslin by boat or plane, depending on your preference (I share more transport tips later in this guide in the section “How to travel between islands”).

Drop your luggage at your hotel and start exploring the island with its most iconic site: the Vallée de Mai.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this natural reserve is a must-see during any 10-day Seychelles itinerary.

The Vallée de Mai is a unique prehistoric forest, home to giant palm trees and the famous coco de mer, enormous nuts locally nicknamed “double coconuts” (you’ll quickly understand why 🍊 😄).

The main trail is well marked and takes around 1.5 hours at a relaxed pace. The atmosphere is magical: filtered light through the canopy, birds singing, giant leaves everywhere… it honestly feels like stepping back in time.

If you’re lucky, you might hear or spot the black parrot, a rare endemic species found only on Praslin.

Make sure to wear proper walking shoes (the ground can be slippery) and bring water.

📝 Practical information

  • Entrance fee: around 450 SCR per person (approx. €25)
  • Opening hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

My Tip

To make the most of your visit, I highly recommend booking a local guided tour. You’ll learn much more about the forest and have a better chance of spotting hidden wildlife.

As no day in the Seychelles is complete without a beach stop, head to Anse Lazio to end the day in style. It’s about a 30-minute drive from Vallée de Mai.

This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Praslin (and arguably in the entire archipelago): powder-white sand, turquoise water, and iconic granite boulders… a true postcard setting.

On site, you’ll find a few restaurants where you can dine with your feet in the sand, a small beach bar, and a souvenir shop.

Sunsets at Anse Lazio are famous for being absolutely stunning, so don’t miss it if you can.

My Tip

If you enjoy hiking, a trail connects Anse Lazio to Anse Georgette, another stunning and much more secluded beach.

The path starts above the Anse Lazio parking area and climbs through lush vegetation for about 200m. From the top, you’ll enjoy a spectacular view over the bay, with the option to either return to Anse Lazio or continue towards Anse Georgette (around 45 minutes total).

Day 4 – Curieuse & Saint Pierre Island excursion

If there’s one must-do activity in Praslin, it’s a boat trip to the nearby islands. The one I recommend most is the full-day excursion combining Curieuse Island and Saint Pierre Islet.

From Grand Anse, you’ll board a boat for a short 15-minute ride across stunning turquoise waters.

First stop: Curieuse Island

Upon arrival on this little slice of paradise, you can explore on foot and discover:

  • an old colonial house turned into a small museum
  • the mangrove ecosystem
  • Anse Laraie beach, where giant tortoises roam freely

The tortoises are truly impressive, and this is one of the best places in the Seychelles to see them up close in their natural environment.

You’ll then enjoy a relaxing beach break with a traditional Creole barbecue lunch prepared on site.

Afternoon: Saint Pierre Islet

Next stop is the iconic Saint Pierre Islet, a true snorkelling paradise. Expect crystal-clear waters, colourful coral reefs, tropical fish, and sometimes even turtles or rays.

At the end of the afternoon, you’ll head back to Praslin after a full day of exploration.

Why I recommend this excursion:

  • Get up close to giant tortoises in their natural environment
  • Discover completely unspoilt island landscapes
  • Enjoy some of the best snorkelling spots in the Seychelles
  • All in one easy, well-organised day trip

Who is this excursion for?

  • Couples on a honeymoon
  • First-time visitors to the Seychelles
  • Snorkelling lovers
  • Travellers who want a full discovery day without any hassle

👉 If you’re hesitating between several activities on Praslin, honestly: choose this one.

Make sure to book this excursion as early as possible. It’s one of the most popular activities in Praslin and spots sell out quickly:

Island-hopping excursions around Praslin are an absolute must-do during your 10 days in the Seychelles!

Day 5 – Côte d’Or & Baie Sainte-Anne Harbour

We’ve already reached the halfway point of this 10-day Seychelles itinerary.

For day 5, I suggest a relaxed day on the east coast, around Côte d’Or Beach (also known as Anse Volbert).

This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Praslin, and it’s especially ideal for families thanks to its calm, shallow waters. From here, you also get a stunning view of Curieuse and Saint Pierre islands.

So simply lay down your towel and enjoy the scenery without a care in the world.

My Tip

Swimming tip: you may occasionally find stingrays in the sand, and they can be venomous, so it’s best to wear water shoes for extra safety.

On Côte d’Or Beach, there’s also a popular photo spot: a leaning palm tree located in front of the Passerose gallery.

For lunch, the Saint Pierre Restaurant, at the northern end of the beach, is a great option with beautiful views over the lagoon.

In the afternoon, take a short walk to Baie Sainte-Anne Harbour, the commercial heart of the island. This is where ferries from Mahé and La Digue arrive.

You’ll find a few restaurants, a small church, and if you feel like exploring a bit more, some quieter beaches nearby such as Anse La Blague or Anse Takamaka.

To add a cultural touch to your day, stop by the Praslin Museum, located close to the beach. It’s a small but interesting visit, with exhibits on local life, medicinal plants, and even century-old tortoises in a botanical garden setting.

Where to stay in Praslin?

To make the most of your 3 days in Praslin, choosing the right accommodation is key.

I’ve saved you some time by sharing my personal selection of places I’ve found (or tested!) that offer a great balance of comfort, location, and value.

Seashell Beach Villa

Step 3 – La Digue (3 days)

If you’re wondering what to do during a 10-day Seychelles itinerary, you can’t leave without visiting La Digue!

It’s the third-largest island in the archipelago and offers a completely different side of the Seychelles experience.

What makes it so special is its laid-back, timeless atmosphere. On La Digue, there are almost no cars — people get around by bicycle or ox-cart. Personally, I love this old-school lifestyle; it’s incredibly relaxing and feels like stepping into another world.

And of course, La Digue is also home to what is often considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, the postcard-famous Anse Source d’Argent (even the name sounds dreamy, right?).

I recommend spending 3 days on La Digue during your trip. It’s only a 15-minute ferry ride from Praslin.

Here’s the itinerary you can follow:

Day 6 – Explore La Digue by bike

You simply can’t visit La Digue without a bicycle! The island is mostly flat and very easy to explore, making cycling the perfect way to get around.

Leave Praslin in the morning and arrive at La Digue’s small harbour. You’ll find several bike rental shops right there, including options for children and baby seats if you’re travelling as a family.

However, it’s a good idea to first head to your accommodation to drop off your luggage. Most hotels and guesthouses on La Digue also offer bike rentals for guests — but if not, you can easily rent one near the port.

Here’s a suggested cycling route along the west coast of La Digue (always follow the coastal road for the best views):

From the harbour, head north along the coastline until you reach Anse Severe, then continue to Anse Patates. Both beaches are stunning and perfect for a swim stop.

plage anse patate la digue seychelles
Anse Patates Beach, La Digue Island

Hop back on your bike and head south towards the L’Union Estate Park. Entry costs around €8, and once inside, you can freely explore coconut and vanilla plantations.

Inside the park, follow the small road through the palm trees to the old island cemetery, where the first inhabitants of La Digue were buried.

Continue to the copra mill, a historic site from the time when coconut oil was produced by hand (live demonstrations sometimes take place depending on the day).

A little further on, you’ll come across the iconic Seychelles giant tortoises roaming freely.

Opposite, you’ll see the colonial plantation house surrounded by former coconut and vanilla fields.

A nice little stop: the Rapunzel shop, where you can buy locally produced coconut oil.

And finally, you’ll reach the highlight of the park: the legendary Anse Source d’Argent, one of the most iconic beaches in the Seychelles. With its turquoise water, soft white sand, and dramatic granite boulders, the scenery is simply breathtaking — don’t miss it.

My Tip

If possible, visit Anse Source d’Argent in the late afternoon when the light is softer and the beach is a bit quieter.

After this beautiful day, head back to your accommodation for a peaceful evening… before tomorrow’s hike!

My Tip

If you only have a few days in the Seychelles, you can also visit La Digue on a day trip from Mahé.

It’s a great way to get a taste of the island and experience its unique atmosphere.

To make the most of it, I recommend this organised excursion, which includes:

  • return ferry transfers
  • bicycle rental on the island for free exploration

Departure is usually around 8am, with return around 4pm.

la digue velo seychelles
La Digue full-day excursion with bike tour from Mahé

Day 7 – Nid d’Aigle hike

For the next day of this 10-day Seychelles itinerary, I recommend a beautiful short hike on La Digue.

This is the island’s most iconic walk: the climb to Nid d’Aigle, the highest point on La Digue.

The trail starts in the hills above Belle Vue, in the centre of the island, and winds through lush tropical vegetation. It can be a bit steep at times, but it’s not difficult if you have a decent level of fitness. Expect around 2.5 km round trip, or about 1.5 to 2 hours of hiking depending on your pace.

At the summit, you’ll reach 333 metres above sea level, with a stunning 360° panoramic view over La Digue, Praslin, Félicité, and several surrounding islands. Honestly, it’s one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Seychelles.

I recommend starting early in the morning to avoid the heat and enjoy clearer skies. Bring water, a cap, good shoes… and of course your camera!

My Tip

On your way back down, I highly recommend stopping at the Belle Vue Restaurant for a well-deserved break. It’s a great place to enjoy a drink or a local meal with an incredible ocean view (the name really says it all).

Day 8 – Relax on the East Coast beaches

For your final day on La Digue, I recommend exploring the wilder beaches on the island’s east coast: Grand Anse and Petite Anse. Less famous than the beaches on the west side, they are just as spectacular.

From the village of La Passe, it takes around 20 to 30 minutes by bike to reach Grand Anse.

The road crosses the interior of the island and includes a few steep climbs (but don’t worry — the downhill ride back is much easier!).

Once you arrive, you’ll discover Grand Anse, a long stretch of sand lined with coconut trees, with powerful waves and a raw, untamed atmosphere that feels completely different from the calm lagoon beaches on the west coast.

If you still have some energy left, continue on foot to Petite Anse, accessible via a coastal trail of about 10 minutes. This smaller beach is usually quieter and even more secluded.

⚠️ Swimming is often not recommended on these beaches because of strong currents. It’s better to stay near the shore and simply enjoy the scenery.

Where to stay in La Digue?

Thanks to its small size, La Digue is very easy to explore by bike, so you can stay almost anywhere on the island without any problem.

Here, you won’t find huge all-inclusive resorts. The vibe is much more authentic, with charming guesthouses, self-catering villas, and small boutique hotels.

Here are the accommodations in La Digue that I highly recommend:

Kot Babi Guesthouse

Located just a short walk from the harbour and Anse La Réunion Beach, this family-run guesthouse is loved for its relaxed atmosphere and excellent value for money. The rooms are simple but comfortable, breakfast is homemade, and there’s a lovely tropical garden to unwind in.

Step 4 – Back to Mahé (2 days)

For the final 2 days of your 10-day Seychelles itinerary, I recommend returning to Mahé.

It’s the most convenient option to stay close to the airport before your flight home, while also giving you a chance to enjoy a little more of the main island before leaving paradise behind.

Day 9 – Morne Seychellois National Park

You can’t spend 10 days in the Seychelles without exploring the incredible Morne Seychellois National Park.

This is the country’s largest natural reserve and home to the highest peak in the Seychelles: Morne Seychellois, rising to 905 metres above sea level.

Even the scenic Sans Soucis Road, which crosses the park, is worth the drive thanks to its beautiful viewpoints and photo stops along the way.

But to truly experience the park, I highly recommend exploring it on foot.

Here are some of the best hikes to choose from depending on your fitness level and interests:

  • Morne Seychellois summit hike

This is the most challenging hike on the island, best suited for experienced hikers. Expect around 5 hours round trip with a fairly steep climb. Start early in the morning to enjoy cooler temperatures and clearer views. At the top, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views over Victoria, Sainte-Anne Marine Park, and the surrounding islands.

  • Morne Blanc trail

A shorter and more accessible hike, but still incredibly rewarding. In about 1.5 to 2 hours round trip, you’ll reach a spectacular viewpoint at 667 metres altitude. A great option if you want a beautiful hike without too much difficulty.

  • Trois Frères trail

This shorter trail is ideal for families or a relaxed nature walk. The round trip takes about 1.5 hours and offers lovely views over Praslin, La Digue, and Sainte-Anne Marine Park.

  • Copolia Trail

This is personally my favourite hike in the park. The trail winds through lush palm forest before opening onto a rocky plateau with breathtaking 360° views over Mahé and the Indian Ocean. Allow around 2 hours round trip. It’s also the only paid trail in the park (around €8 per person).

My Tip

To truly appreciate the reserve, I highly recommend hiring a local guide. They’ll not only help you navigate the trails but also teach you about the endemic plants and birds hidden within the forest.

For me, it really adds another dimension to the experience.

Book your guide in advance, directly by clicking below:

Parc national du Morne Seychellois

Day 10 – Baie Ternay Marine Park excursion

There’s no better way to end your 10 days in the Seychelles than with a final day at sea! I highly recommend the excursion to Baie Ternay Marine Park, famous for its incredible underwater world.

Located on the north-west coast of Mahé, this protected bay is only accessible on foot or by boat. The scenery is absolutely stunning: Baie Ternay is surrounded by lush green mountains and filled with crystal-clear turquoise water.

If you enjoy snorkeling, you definitely shouldn’t miss this place.

I personally had the chance to experience the catamaran cruise to Baie Ternay, and it was absolutely idyllic.

The crew usually picks you up directly from your accommodation in the morning (around 9:30–10am), before you board for a full-day cruise.

The boat sails along the northern coastline, passing Anse Major Beach, before reaching Baie Ternay.

Several snorkeling stops are included throughout the day in some of the best spots of the marine reserve. Expect colourful tropical fish, beautiful coral reefs, and sometimes even sea turtles!

Around lunchtime, a barbecue meal is served onboard.

Return is usually around 4pm.

If you already know your travel dates, I highly recommend booking your spot as early as possible.

How to get around the Seychelles?

Planning your transportation properly is essential if you want to make the most of your 10-day Seychelles itinerary.

Here are my practical tips for getting around each island easily:

Getting around Mahé

For Mahé, I strongly recommend renting a car. It’s the largest island in the archipelago, and having your own vehicle gives you total freedom to explore without relying on schedules.

Keep in mind that driving is on the left-hand side of the road (a British colonial legacy!), but the roads are generally in good condition.

If you don’t want to drive, taxis are also available. Just make sure to agree on the fare before getting in, as meters are not always used.

Getting around Praslin

I also recommend renting a car in Praslin if you want to explore the island at your own pace. Distances are shorter than on Mahé, but some beaches and hiking spots are difficult to reach by bus.

My Tip

On Mahé and Praslin, public buses are a cheap and authentic way to get around. They mainly operate on the main roads. However, schedules can sometimes be unreliable, especially on weekends. It’s a fun option if you have time and want to experience island life like a local.

Getting around La Digue

On La Digue, there’s no need for a car: bicycles rule the island!

It’s by far the most enjoyable way to explore this peaceful little paradise. There are a few electric carts and taxis available, but honestly, cycling is part of the La Digue experience.

On the smaller islands

Most of the smaller islands don’t have roads at all, so people get around on foot or by bike.

If you’re staying in a resort, electric buggies are often available for transfers around the property.

How to travel between islands during a 10-day Seychelles trip?

During your 10 days in the Seychelles, you’ll most likely visit the 3 main islands: Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue.

To travel between them, you have two options: ferry or plane.

By ferry

Fast ferries operate daily between Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue. These modern boats are comfortable and make island hopping very easy.

  • Mahé ⇄ Praslin: around 1 hour crossing time, approximately €60 per person
  • Praslin ⇄ La Digue: only 15 minutes, around €20
  • Mahé ⇄ La Digue: some direct ferries exist (around 1h30, approximately €75), but most routes require a transfer in Praslin. Connections are generally well organised and port staff are helpful if needed.

My Tip

Book your ferry tickets in advance, especially during high season. You can easily reserve online through companies such as Cat Cocos.

By plane

You can also fly from Mahé to Praslin.

Air Seychelles operates several daily flights on small propeller planes. The journey takes just 15–20 minutes, and the aerial views over the islands and lagoons are absolutely spectacular.

Prices vary depending on the schedule and ticket flexibility, but expect to pay between €120 and €150 one way.

FAQ – 10 days in the Seychelles

The best 10 day Seychelles itinerary usually combines:

  • 4 days in Mahé
  • 3 days in Praslin
  • 3 days in La Digue

This gives you a great balance between beaches, nature, island hopping, snorkeling, hiking, and local culture.

You can easily organise your trip step-by-step by following the itinerary shared throughout this article.

For a first trip, the best islands to visit are:

  • Mahé for hiking, local life, and marine parks
  • Praslin for paradise beaches and the Vallée de Mai
  • La Digue for its relaxed atmosphere and iconic beaches

I also highly recommend adding a few smaller islands through day trips by boat, especially:

  • Curieuse Island for its giant tortoises and mangroves
  • Saint Pierre Islet for snorkeling
  • Sainte-Anne Marine Park for its crystal-clear waters and marine life

Together, these islands offer the ultimate Seychelles experience for a 10-day trip.

The budget for 10 days in the Seychelles depends on your travel style.

On average (excluding flight price):

  • Budget trip: around €1,500–2,000 per person
  • Mid-range trip: around €2,500–4,000 per person
  • Luxury trip: €5,000+ per person

Accommodation is usually the biggest expense. You can estimate your own budget more easily by checking the hotel, activity and excursion links recommended throughout this article.

The best months to visit the Seychelles are generally:

  • April to May
  • October to November

During these periods, the weather is warm, the sea is calmer, and conditions are excellent for snorkeling, diving, and boat excursions.
